Bangladeshi patients need a medical visa before travelling to India for treatment, and most journeys begin with a records review rather than a booking. Prepare your passport, reports, imaging and medicine list first, then request a written hospital estimate before any travel decision.
Step by step: from Bangladesh to a hospital in India
- 1Start with a question. Describe the condition in plain language. You do not need every report ready to begin a conversation.
- 2Share records for review. Send consultation notes, imaging discs or uploads, test results and your current medicine list. Hospitals respond to cases that arrive complete.
- 3Read the hospital response. Ask what the hospital can assess remotely and what needs an in-person visit. Ask for the estimate in writing.
- 4Apply for the medical visa. Use the official Government of India visa portal. Requirements and fees change, so confirm them there rather than through a forwarded message.
- 5Plan the stay. Confirm how many days the surgical team expects you in Hyderabad, where an attendant will stay, and how follow-up will work after you return home.
- 6Travel and decide locally. Meet the surgeon, complete the tests the hospital asks for, and proceed only when the clinical team and you agree on the plan.
What treatment costs
Published comparisons give a sense of scale. All figures are estimates from hospital and medical travel platforms, not quotes.
| Procedure | Published India figure | Comparison point |
|---|---|---|
| Total knee replacement | USD 4,000 to USD 8,000 | USA USD 35,000 to 50,000 (Afya) |
| Coronary bypass grafting | About USD 5,200 | USA about USD 144,000 (Karetrip) |
| Angioplasty | About USD 3,300 | USA about USD 57,000 (Karetrip) |
| Heart valve replacement | About USD 5,500 | Thailand about USD 21,200 (Karetrip) |
| Knee replacement (platform range) | USD 6,200 average | Thailand USD 12,300 (Karetrip) |
Within India, Hyderabad typically publishes lower ranges than Mumbai or Delhi. A written estimate after a case review is the only number that applies to a specific patient.
Documents worth preparing
- Passport with adequate validity and recent photographs.
- Consultation notes and discharge summaries from your doctors in Bangladesh.
- Imaging: X-ray, MRI or CT files on disc, plus the written radiology reports.
- Blood tests, ECG and echocardiogram reports where relevant.
- A list of current medicines with doses.
- A referral letter from your local physician, if you have one.
Share copies first. Hospitals and facilitators who demand originals or full payments before any case review are a warning sign.
Choosing a facilitator: what to check
Several established facilitators serve Bangladesh, including Shifa Global Care, Bangla Health Connect, Medisol and MedTrav. Whichever you use, the same checks apply.
- A registered identity. A verifiable business registration, office address and named contacts.
- Written fees. Hospital costs and coordination charges stated separately, before you commit.
- Honest limits. No facilitator can promise visa approval, hospital acceptance or a fixed surgical price before a clinician reviews the case.
- Privacy practice. A clear statement of where your reports are stored, who sees them and how long they are kept.

Sources and method
Price figures below are published ranges gathered on 8 October 2026 from the pages listed here. They are market references, not quotes. A hospital estimate for your case may fall outside any published range.
Visa rules and hospital requirements change. Confirm current requirements with the official visa authority and the receiving hospital. Medical decisions, including whether surgery is appropriate for you, are made by qualified clinicians after reviewing your case.
